How to make your own CPA Audio review?

Is it possible to make your own audio review?
Yes!! Making your own audio review is one good way to squeeze in revisions in your preparation. After you complete studying a topic, you will record your understanding about the topic along with key points.

How can I record my own audio review?
All you need is a mic, your laptop and an audio recording software. Alternatively you can record your review on your mobile devices, tablets or any audio recorders.

Lets get into the process...

  1. First get your self a good mic, you don't need to invest a lot in this..We can get inexpensive good ones now.
  2. Now download a audio recording software, No need to purchase expensive recording software.. Software like Audacity are available for free download.. Click here to download the software  .( Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.)
  3. If you want to learn a little more about how to use Audacity, Please refer this video playlist. I picked these tutorial videos from Youtube. If you want to convert your audio files into mp3 format for your Ipod's or mp3 players. You probably need a mp3 plugin, which is available for download over net for free,  See this link for more information on this

  • Once this whole process is completed, Just record your revision in your own words, You can also use your own mother tongue but don't change any key words. You can emphasize the points which were confusing and give special importance to those MCQ's and Simulations which were answered wrong.
  • It is easy to make these files while you are studying and you can complete your revision as many times as you wish.
  • Burn them to an audio CD or load these mp3 files in your ipods or mp3 players and you can carry them any where.
  • I find it easy to revise some topics this way. Though it is not possible to record all topics. All key concepts can be recorded this way. They suit for people who love to listen more than to read. And those who have a good visual memory , they may use this along with their notes.

  3. Good post, Rose. Audacity is a great (FREE!) program. There is a bit of a learning curve to use, but once you get past that, it works well.

Making your own audio can be a huge benefit in passing the exam, although there is a lot of work. Most people will want to spend some time editing for the parts where they stumble over some of the word and concepts or take out the parts with background noise so that it is easier to listen to. For those who don't want to go through the hassle of doing this, there are CPA exam audio notes available to buy.

I'd be happy to discuss with your readers strategies for what to include in the audio notes or some tips to get started with Audacity.
